From items that would otherwise be discarded, students from the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts turned them into 18 unique and eye-catching fashion designs — each one unlike any other.

Students from the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, showcased their creativity and originality through three recycled fashion collections presented at a special fashion show on April 13.
All the designers — first- and second-year students — shared a common goal: to spread meaningful life messages to the community.
The “Environmental Protection” collection incorporated natural materials like grass, plants, and flowers to convey a message about protecting the environment.
The “Creative Fashion” collection primarily used denim, plastic bags, and newspaper to communicate creativity in fashion and the free-spirited nature of art students.
The “Evening Wear” collection — the most elaborate — utilized diverse materials such as newspapers, leaves, burlap, and plastic to express powerful messages about the decay of nature, love, and the purity and aspirations of humanity.
With skillful craftsmanship, students “magically” transformed materials once considered waste into distinctive outfits that express the personality and individuality of the wearer

Contributing two designs — “The Decline of Nature” and “You Love Me But You Hurt Me” — to the show, first-year art and design student Đinh Thị Hằng explained that the core principle of the project was to reuse what was available without purchasing new materials or generating additional waste.
“For the outfit designed from dried leaves, my initial idea was a dress made of leaves, fading from green to yellow to represent the decline of nature. However, when I started working on it, I realized the green color couldn’t last for days. So I decided to glue hundreds of dried almond leaves onto a paper base, creating a dress more than three meters long,” Hằng shared.

Hundreds of dried leaves were glued onto a burlap sack. Through this outfit, Hằng wanted to symbolize the constant transformation of life and express gratitude and appreciation for everything around us.

The outfit titled “Scandal” exposes the hidden struggles and darker side of a celebrity’s life. Through their design, the students sought to criticize public scrutiny and attacks directed at famous individuals.
